Independent Design Review & Certification
Independent review and certification of third-party designs. Our engineers build their own calculations from a blank page, and every certification is signed by a registered engineer.
Overview
We provide the independent set of eyes that regulators, insurers and prudent operators ask for, reviewing and certifying third-party designs for asset owners and for the engineers who produced them. The calculations are our own, built from a blank page: in most cases we never receive the designer's calculations, and when we do, we still calculate independently.
Our engineers hold registration in the mechanical and structural disciplines, which is what lets the certification stand.
Our engineers are registered in Queensland (RPEQ), New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory, and hold Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status in Australia and New Zealand.
What we deliver
How we work
- 01Receive and scopeWe take in the design package and agree the basis of review: which parts of the design, to what depth, and against which standards. That basis becomes a review plan you approve before the review begins.
- 02Review independentlyWe check the design basis, loads, assumptions, methods and materials against the Australian or international standards the project calls for, building an independent finite element model where the load path warrants it.
- 03Raise and resolveNon-conformances are documented and worked through with the designer, each with the design changes recommended to bring it into compliance. The certification is issued only once every non-conformance is closed.
- 04CertifyThe certification report sets out what was reviewed and what it was reviewed against, at the depth the project needs. The certification statement is signed by a registered engineer.
When to call us
- A third-party design has landed on your desk and no one in-house can tell you whether it’s right.
- A regulator, insurer or your own governance requires independent review before the design proceeds.
- Steel is about to be committed to fabrication and you want the design proven before it’s cut.
- A design of your own that needs independent certification behind it before it goes to the client.
