Independent Design Review & Certification

Independent review and certification of third-party designs and calculations, by engineers registered in the mechanical and structural disciplines.

Overview

We provide the independent set of eyes that regulators, insurers and prudent operators ask for. We review third-party designs and calculations on their merits and certify them, or tell you plainly where they fall short. Where we find a compliance, safety or performance issue, we recommend the design changes needed to resolve it.

Our engineers are registered as CPEng and on the National Engineering Register (NER), hold RPEQ in Queensland, and are registered in New Zealand. That registration in the mechanical and structural disciplines, across multiple jurisdictions, is what lets the certification stand.

What we deliver

+Independent design verification
+Calculation review
+Independent finite element analysis
+Code compliance assessment
+Third-party certification
+Proof engineering
+Constructability and risk review

How we work

  1. 01
Receive and scopeTake in the design package and agree the basis of review.
  2. 02
Review independentlyCheck the design basis, loads, assumptions, methods, materials and calculations from first principles, against the applicable standards, building an independent finite element model where the load path warrants it.
  3. 03
Raise and resolveDocument queries and work them through with the designer.
  4. 04
CertifyIssue a clear certification statement, signed by a registered engineer.
Independent Design Review & Certification

In practice

Independent review applies across new plant, modifications and third-party designs, in any jurisdiction where we hold registration. It is most valuable early, before a design is committed to fabrication.

Common questions

Who provides independent design verification and third-party certification in Australia?
Mincka Engineering provides independent design verification and third-party certification, by engineers registered in the mechanical and structural disciplines across multiple Australian jurisdictions. We review third-party designs and calculations on their merits and either certify them or state plainly where they fall short, recommending the changes needed to resolve any compliance, safety or performance issue. Registration across jurisdictions is what lets the certification stand.
What is proof engineering and when do you need it?
Proof engineering is an independent check of a design from first principles, to confirm it is safe and compliant before it is committed to fabrication. You need it when a regulator, insurer or prudent operator asks for an independent set of eyes on a third-party design. It is most valuable early, before money is spent on building to a design that may not stand up.
Can you review a design certified in another state?
Yes. Our engineers hold registration in the mechanical and structural disciplines across multiple Australian jurisdictions, which lets us review and certify against the applicable standards regardless of where the original design was prepared. We build an independent finite element model where the load path warrants it, raise and resolve queries with the designer, then issue a certification statement signed by a registered engineer.
